Ira D. Zunin, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A.

Medical Director Manakai O Malama Integrative Health Care Group

Dr. Zunin lectures internationally on health and wellness with a focus on integrative and cutting edge biomedicine. Since 2011 he has written a regular column, “The Wealth of Health” in the Honolulu Star Advertiser. For several years he appeared regularly in his television news segment, “The Doctor Is In” on KITV Channel 4. For more than twenty years he has consulted for the government, hospital, insurance and IT sectors and facilitated partnerships across industries. Throughout his career he has maintained an ongoing commitment to support research and to contribute to both the academic and popular literature on healthcare.
He earned his medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine and is board certified in Preventive Medicine. He holds Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and in Public Health. He has served as Assistant Clinical Professor at the School of Public Health and in the Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. Dr. Zunin is the founding president and for ten years led the Hawaii State Consortium for Integrative Health Care established to support conferences, research, and business and legal solutions through a collaborative effort among major health care stakeholders. He was appointed by Governor Cayatano to the Hawaii State Board of Acupuncture.

Dr. Zunin is CEO of Global Advisory Services, a consulting firm focused on re-imagining healthcare for the twenty-first century and founding medical director of Manakai O Malama Integrative Group and Rehabilitation Center. He is an advanced martial artist and recently crossed the Atlantic Ocean, by star navigation while serving as medical oficer on Hokule’a, a traditional-style Polynesian voyaging canoe.
